How to Choose the Right Yoga for you

With so many styles of yoga available, it can be difficult to know where to begin. Each style offers something slightly different, and understanding these differences can help you choose a class that feels good for your body and your goals. This guide explores the most common yoga styles and how to decide which one is right for you.

Start with your intention

Every person begins yoga for a different reason. Some want strength, some want rest and others want a clearer mind. Your intention can help point you towards the most suitable style.

If you want steady movement and strength

Vinyasa and Ashtanga offer flowing sequences that link breath with movement. They build strength, improve mobility and provide a steady, rhythmic pace. These styles suit people who enjoy active classes and want to feel physically energised.

If you prefer something slower and calmer

Slow Flow, Yin and Restorative classes provide gentler movement and longer holds. These are ideal for easing tension, improving flexibility and settling the nervous system. They support beginners as well as anyone wanting a softer approach.

If you need specialist support

Prenatal, Mum and Baby Yoga and Chair Yoga are designed with specific needs in mind. They offer safe, supportive movement for pregnancy, postnatal recovery and those wanting a more accessible practice.

If you want playful strength and creativity

Rocket Yoga and Lotus Flow offer a blend of creativity, energy and expressive movement. They are ideal for confident beginners or experienced students who enjoy variety and a stronger pace.

Try a few styles and listen to your body

The best way to choose a style is to try a few different classes. Your needs may change week to week, and there is no single right answer. A balanced yoga practice often includes both energetic and calming styles.

Choosing the right yoga style is ultimately about finding what feels good in your body. As you explore different classes, you will naturally discover the practices that help you feel stronger, clearer and more at ease.

Kula Is Closing.

We have some very difficult news to share.

Kula Yoga Studio will be closing at the end of March.

We are beyond heartbroken. We worked hard and put so much into building this space and to grow a genuine community around it. For personal reasons, we have decided to close the studio. It has not been an easy decision at all.

If you have an active class pass, please use your remaining sessions before the end of March. We will contact anyone we believe may be affected to make sure everything is clear.

To every yogi who has been part of Kula, past or present, thank you. Your support, your time, and your presence meant everything. The community that formed in the studio is something we will always be proud of.

We would love to see as many of you as possible on the mat over the next month. Let us practise together and show appreciation for the space and for the wonderful teachers who have given so much to it.

Thank you, to every one of you, for making this space so special.

With gratitude, Kate.x
